Role responsibilities

The responsibilities attributed to the role include:

  • managing a portfolio of clients.
  • recording financial transactions in accounting software.
  • preparing and maintaining financial ledgers, schedules, reports, and reconciliations.
  • preparing management accounts for corporate entities and individuals.
  • preparing financial statements in accordance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • preparing supporting documents for the financial statements to be audited.
  • preparing and submitting VAT returns and recapitulative statements.
  • providing assistance to clients with ad hoc accounting and VAT assignments.
  • maintaining a good understanding of evolving laws and regulations affecting the accounting and VAT environment, both locally and internationally.

Educational and skill requirements

The candidates we are looking for should ideally:

  • possess a qualification with a recognised body, such as ACCA, or an equivalent qualification from a reputable educational institution, such as the University of Malta.
  • possess previous work experience within a similar role.
  • possess a good understanding of the accounting principles and VAT regulations.
  • possess proficiency in Microsoft applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), with proficiency in accounting software considered an asset.
  • possess strong communication (verbal and written) skills in English, with proficiency in Maltese considered an asset, and knowledge of other languages positively regarded.
