Accounting Junior

The position entails performing a variety of clerical, administrative, and financial tasks related to maintaining accurate records of financial transactions. The candidate will support the accounting department with general bookkeeping and other general accounting duties normally associated with the post.

 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities attributed to the role under the guidance and support of accounting supervisors and managers, include but are not limited to:

Processing & Maintaining Financial Records

– entering financial transactions into accounting software.
– maintaining accurate and complete records of the financial transactions, including receipts, invoices, statements, and other relevant documents.

General Bookkeeping

– preparing and maintaining general ledgers and subsidiary ledgers of financial accounts.
– preparing and maintaining financial spreadsheets, reports, and records.
– reconciling accounts and preparing necessary reports and schedules to support month-end and year-end closing processes.

Financial Reporting

– assisting in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
– assisting in the preparation of supporting documentation and schedules for audits.

 

Education, Skills, and Requirements

The candidates we are looking for should ideally:

  • be enrolled with a recognised body such as the ACCA, or the University of Malta, in an accounting course.
  • possess a basic knowledge of accounting.
  • possess proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • possess strong communication (verbal and written) skills in English, whilst proficiency in Maltese and another language would be considered an asset.
