EMEA Regional Conference – Malta

Baker Tilly International consists of independent firms which come together across four geographic areas, sharing knowledge and resources and which, through the power of a global network, manage to ultimately deliver exceptional results to clients globally.

This global network is exclusively represented in Malta by Baker Tilly Sant, a mid-tier firm of accountants and business advisors.

May 2012 saw nearly 200 people from 55 countries attend the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Regional Conference. Hosted by Baker Tilly Sant and held in Malta, the conference under the theme of “Change Ahead” addressed recent developments in the international business landscape, the challenges facing business and what companies should be considering to address them.

“We are delighted to welcome so many people from across the region, and indeed from all around the world, to Malta. This event highlights the power of the Baker Tilly International network and is an exceptional opportunity to share the knowledge, experiences and best practice that are so vital for our clients in overcoming the issues they face in today’s complex and rapidly changing environment.” – Donald Sant (Managing Partner of Baker Tilly Sant)

The scope of the conference was to highlight changes which over the last few years have impacted the global commercial scene. Furthermore, this conference was aimed at identifying criteria and potential remedial actions in order to mitigate the adverse impact of such changes. The event was opened by Malta’s Minister of Finance, Tonio Fenech, with the closing address delivered by Prime Minister, Dr. Lawrence Gonzi.

In his address to the delegates, Prime Minister Dr. Lawrence Gonzi spoke about the fact that during the past 15 years much has been happening in Malta and that Baker Tilly Sant has contributed greatly towards Malta continuing to establish itself as a centre for international business and financial services. The Prime Minister highlighted the fact that Malta was succeeding to continually anticipate the changes happening around us. This was because the Government was introducing reforms to ensure the strengthening of the country’s finances and economic growth.
